What does the Quran and Sahih Bukhari say about ‘oppressors’

Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim (بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم )

What does the Quran and Sahih Bukhari say about oppressors

Oppression is a powerful word but any one person can be an oppressor no matter age, race or status. The Ummah are facing atrocities all over the globe from Palestine to the whole of China and even to a child being bullied in school in whatever part of the world. Reflect on these verses and statements so it may give you hope for the oppressed and fear of ever being an oppressor.

I have kept this short as possible so that you may ponder on the ayahs in the glorious Quran and contemplate on some hadith in regards to oppression.

Quran

Surah Ash-Shura, Verse 42:

The way (to blame) is only against those who oppress men and revolt in the earth unjustly; these shall have a painful punishment.

Surah Al-Hajj, Verse 39:

Permission (to fight) is given to those upon whom war is made because they are oppressed, and most surely Allah is well able to assist them;

Surah Al-Hajj, Verse 40:

Those who have been expelled from their homes without a just cause except that they say: Our Lord is Allah. And had there not been Allah's repelling some people by others, certainly there would have been pulled down cloisters and churches and synagogues and mosques in which Allah's name is much remembered; and surely Allah will help him who helps His cause; most surely Allah is Strong, Mighty.

Surah Al-Hajj, Verse 60:

That (shall be so); and he who retaliates with the like of that with which he has been afflicted and he has been oppressed, Allah will most certainly aid him; most surely Allah is Pardoning, Forgiving.

Surah Ash-Shura, Verse 41:

And whoever defends himself after his being oppressed, these it is against whom there is no way (to blame).

Surah Ash-Shura, Verse 42:

The way (to blame) is only against those who oppress men and revolt in the earth unjustly; these shall have a painful punishment.

Sahih Bukhari

Sahih Bukhari (622) Narrated 'Abdullah bin Umar: Allah's Apostle said, "A Muslim is a brother of another Muslim, so he should not oppress him, nor should he hand him over to an oppressor. Whoever fulfilled the needs of his brother, Allah will fulfill his needs; whoever brought his (Muslim) brother out of a discomfort, Allah will bring him out of the discomforts of the Day of Resurrection, and whoever screened a Muslim, Allah will screen him on the Day of Resurrection . "

Sahih Bukhari (624) Narrated Anas: Allah's Apostle said, "Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or he is an oppressed one. People asked, "O Allah's Apostle! It is all right to help him if he is oppressed, but how should we help him if he is an oppressor?" The Prophet said, "By preventing him from oppressing others."

Sahih Bukhari (627) Narrated Ibn 'Umar: The Prophet said, "Oppression will be a darkness on the Day of Resurrection."

Sahih Bukhari (628) Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: The Prophet sent Mu'adh to Yemen and said, "Be afraid, from the curse of the oppressed as there is no screen between his invocation and Allah."

Sahih Bukhari (629) Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "Whoever has oppressed another person concerning his reputation or anything else, he should beg him to forgive him before the Day of Resurrection when there will be no money (to compensate for wrong deeds), but if he has good deeds, those good deeds will be taken from him according to his oppression which he has done, and if he has no good deeds, the sins of the oppressed person will be loaded on him."

Sahih Bukhari (637) Narrated 'Aisha: The Prophet said, "The most hated person in the sight of Allah is the most quarrelsome person."

Sahih Bukhari (634) Narrated Salim's father (i.e. 'Abdullah): The Prophet said, "Whoever takes a piece of the land of others unjustly, he will sink down the seven earths on the Day of Resurrection."

Sahih Bukhari (660) Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Amr bin Al-'As: I heard the Prophet saying, "Whoever is killed while protecting his property then he is a martyr."

I typed in words related to the word ‘oppressed’ and limited the number of ayahs and hadith to not digress. These few verses and ayahs should strike fear in the hearts of any believer and give hope to those left wandering of the consequences the evil doers face.

May Allah forgive me for any wrong intentions or wording when writing this article and I pray those who read it benefit from this
